It does work for most people most of the time screenman but I can understand to some extent BigTam's frustration. I sold car tyres on eBay, I live in France and the buyer was in the uk so couldn't exactly pop round and pick them up. I arranged to have them delivered to him but then the delivery company said they would be delayed by a week. I gave the buyer the option of waiting or I would return the money he sent by PayPal. He didn't want to wait so I returned the full amount I had received through PayPal. He took the money then made a complaint to PayPal who then took the full amount again out of my account. PayPal were good and returned my money the day I phoned them as they could see I had already returned the guys money but I didn't want to wait 28 days.

In the 'old days' I used to like buying the occasional item on Ebay and sold a few things too. My use of Ebay has dropped to almost nothing since PayPal became widespread and cheque payment became less common. Reading this thread does not encourage me to change my mind. I can do without the hassle if something goes wrong.

I sell quite a bit on eBay furniture and the like and PayPal is a nightmare I wish there was an alternative but its not going to happen.

The best thing to do is give them a ring though as they are quite helpful over the phone.

Better than sending a cheque or using "Nochex".I remember the old days.

I did try calling them, their system works on voice recognition, took 11 minutes to actually get through to someone, another scam, as you are paying premium rate for the call, all they are interested in is holding on to your money for as long as they can, they make millions out of it.

I don't think it used voice recognition when I used it? They sent me a pin number to enter and then I got through pretty quickly?

Are they any worse than any high street bank? I've found them better, tbh.
