Microsoft Security essentials, it Free and made by the guys that that make the OS, (if you are running window) Really lite and again its FREE!!

Thanks for the advice folks - somewhat nervously took Kaspersky off just before it was due to run out - installed MS Essentials and so far all looks good and smooth. And definitely not bloatware.

Absolutely. Norton sucks balls.

Over the years I have used the usual free offerings but have also paid for: Panda, Eset, McAfee, Kaspersky and currently bitdefender. I rated Eset due to their scans not being a resource hog and ultra fast however they upped the pricing so ditched them. All much of a muchness as with bike brands people spouting the best being the one they use.

Thanks for the M$ input - seems the best choice!
 
Another vote for MSE, been running it for quite a while never let anything past. I use it with Palemoon x64 or x86 on laptop. Palemoon is a stripped down vewrsion of Firefox and seems a little faster, particularly in a 64bit enviro.
