My daughter has a broken arm, you can tell, she has a cast on from shoulder to wrist. Her PE teacher told her that, even though she has to sit out the lesson, she should be in her PE kit. She has sent letter to me asking that my daughter complies.

Maybe they have problems with too many lazy kids with sick notes and this is a three line whip, no questions asked.
I remember every year at cross country week about half the kids somehow had a sick note for PE.

..I remember every year at cross country week about half the kids somewho had a sick note for PE.
Half a century ago I took my customary short cut along the canal towpath on Wednesday cross country, only to pop out a couple of hundred yards ahead of the PE Master, who had had to stop to attend to a faller.
"Well done, ASC, I can see that you have really made an effort this week. Followed the full course, eh?"
"OhSirYesSirOfCourseSir"
"Excellent, boy, excellent. Shall we see if we can push on for the last couple of miles?"

The old sod knew damned well what I had done. The next half hour was hell.

I would send in a note asking what the point is, and if she must wear it for PE is it ok if she comes to school wearing it. Or that they provide someone to help her change. A broken arm is a pain in the neck to get dressed, let alone get changed into some clothes for no apparent reason.

I'm sure all PE teachers have a sadistic trait and take great pleasure from inflicting pain on the kids! I had the pleasure of gaining revenge on mine, a few years after finishing school, when he played cricket against my team. Let's just say I flung a few bouncers and the odd Beamer down at him........oh sorry Mr Roberts the ball is wet and slipped out of my hand a bit;)

PE teachers are sadists (and my ones were pervs as well, I'm sure)
3rd year was the best. We had single PE straight after lunch, and every week was cross-country.
Get changed, do a three mile run, get showered, get dry, get dressed. All inside 35 minutes.
I was 1/4 mile late for double Geography. Every week. For a year.
Tell the PE staff to do one

I think people forget that teachers are just people, they're not the law and they have no real authority over anything. Tell them no, it's not happening. You're the parent, what you say goes on a matter like this. Simple as that.
