Im just surprised that the joggers used the cycle lane when using the pavement on the other side would be safer.Of course it's very stupid of me not to really actually trust motons and generally go for the safest option.

Presumably they thought not enough people would be able to read the word 'carriageway'. Roadway is ok for me though.

I had a great one on Friday. The work trike was parked in a little layby parking space in a residential road, while we collected boxes. I was standing by the front of the trike, and a guy walked along the pavement, and instead of following it as it jinked to one side round this layby, carried on in a straight line, stepped down the kerb into the layby, head down, earphones, fiddling with his ipod, kept walking. Virtually walked straight into the front of the trike before he happened to look up, to see me watching him with amusement. Looked a bit embarassed then.

I find that quite common on my commute.More worrying generally when I see a moton doing it while driving.

Peds are generally a danger to themselves...(and cyclists) Moton weilding phone users are a menace to everyone.

My brother lives in London and rides to work. He was riding his expensive carbon Willier road bike doing 25 mph (I know this for a fact because I've seen the powertap readings and it goes 25mph to 0mph instantly - also his heart beat goes therough the roof) when a pedestrian walked out in front of him. The guy didn't look before stepping out and it happened so fast that there was nothing my brother could do but plough into him. The bloke was fine but my brother's bike was written off and he broke the ball in his hip. 10 months of fitness wastage later and he's just about to get the final scan to see if he can ride his bike again. So I suppose it has a happy ending but could have been so much worse.

If all is well we're going to book another trip to the French alps for September. Fingers crossed.

LOL! You don't seriously expect a ped to hear a bell on a busy London road? Even if they do hear one, do you expect them to pay it any attention?
