"A lawyer nicknamed ‘Mr Loophole’ who has helped a string of celebrity clients avoid being convicted of motoring offences says that pedestrians should have to wear high-visibility clothing at night."

I have one question (ok two) for Mr Loophole..... "Was your client wearing hi-vis?", and if not what was he going to do once he had got out of his car?

What a total shitbag! There appears to be no thought given to the fact that if the driver had been paying attention he wouldnt have hit him.
BTW his client pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.
I guess this is what we call UK car culture @GrumpyGregry

Yep.

and the true demonstration of how embedded that culture is comes from the lack of universal derision his idiocy has attracted.

When I was a primary school child in the late 60s we were given reflective strips to attach to our coats for when we were walking home. A government initiative. Of course we all walked in those days, plus we had the weird hour-not-going-back-in-winter thing so the morning walk to school was in the dark as well. Possibly as a result of that I am always aware of my visibility as a pedestrian when walking on roads with no pavement - it's pitch black where I live and I'm extra vigilant if I find myself coming home in the dark with subfusc clothing. But kitting all peds out in hi-viz seems nonsense to me.

Imagine if he had said it was a rape victims fault for wearing short skirt etc.

The PC brigade would have been out in force, but as you say nothing mentioned about this

Do they?

Well, I'm a lawyer and I for one do not look up to him

What has that got to do with looking up to him?

i've defended rapists, murderers, paedophiles etc

I would do so again, it doesn't mean I look up to them

For safety ban black and grey cars, bmw drivers, animals, blind bends and tunnels, off camber anything and make jaywalking a crime. If we wrapped all in bubbles and hi-vis'd everyone/thing and everywhere in the name of safety would we be able to see danger? Would there be any danger to see?
Think how stylish we cyclists would look, all in black (only to be visible of course), in our soon to be fully "hi-vis" world

If two lawyers look up to this man, then my statement is correct.

Now do give it up.[/QUOTE]

use of the term 'lawyers' without qualification implies lawyers as a class. if you meant some lawyers you should have said so.
