To be fair it could be more to do with the route.

Yeah, my commute doesn't see a pedestrian for about 12.5 of the 13 miles ...or certainly no great number of peds until I'm a little naughty and cut through the town centre, in which case I'm doing about 3mph so won't have any conflict with them.

Peds have responsilibility to be responsible and safe on the road too, if they put themselves into the way of moving vehicles way out into a road, and do it in such a way that the moving vehicles have no way of knowing they're about to step out from a blind spot than they're reckless and deserve whatever happens, how can anyone argue with that?

Recklessness is called indirect intent in the law, cyclists are allowed all over the road, pedestrians are not, not in the same way anyway, no-one believes that pedestrains are supposed to use the roads to go to work do they, dear god, cross with due care and attention, yes

just maybe some on here ride in very pedestrain heavy areas with road layouts that encourage the to flit across wherever the whim takes them

What about when it is not recklessness, but they just made a mistake. Do people deserve to die for making a mistake?

Pedestrians do have an absolute right by law to walk on the carriageway.
