There are so many cyclists in London it's challenging to spot the same people (the fact that my commute's not always to the same location doesn't help). Occasionally it happens.

When a commute takes me to the Vauxhall Bridge lights I often see the same bloke trackstanding on his fixie; long lights too and he always manages it! No idea his name, but in my head I call him 'Trackstand Tony'.

I keep seeing this hooded shrouded figure carrying a scythe.

Don't worry he's just waiting, having seen how you ride.

I do shifts,so this doesn't apply,I also use different routes.Oh look im off to work soon.Doubt if I will see many cyclists.

I'm commuting at roughly the same time every day, I see very few cyclists, traveling between Coventry and Nuneaton leaving around a quarter past seven in the morning I don't see a lot of traffic generally, leaving work at about a quarter to five its a lot busier but I still see very few cyclists.

I used to get passed by the same maroon Nissan 200SX with a huge, drainpipe exhaust on (or near) the same hill 10 miles from home almost every day on a 20-mile commute.

I used to mumble its registration to myself as I heard it rumbling my way.

It felt odd sometimes when it wasn't there. I've seen it since (when driving) but that's not the same and doesn't count.

Ghastly car, silly noise, but somehow a friendly presence on my cycling commute.

Have also noticed the cyclists that I pass who will say hello and those who are staring with grim determination and won't even turn their head...although I do still say hi everyday anyway (not sure why I keep bothering but have this silly feeling of camaraderie with other people who are battling the elements at silly times of the day!). Maybe one day they'll give me a slight nod of acknowledgement, but not counting my chickens!

It must be the recession over here with us. But did see a small increase in cycling during the Olympics but now that they are gone I Notice that the cyclist have gone. I just meet one other cyclist going the opposite direction and he has moved from hybid to Road recently and seems to love it

Old or new model? Was it going sideways as it passed you?

There's a contra theory to that backed up by stats. You are at greater risk of an accident (in a car) within the first few miles of leaving your house. This is likely to be because you know the roads and can be in auto pilot. as it were.

Changing the route keeps you on your toes and I vary my route often, not just for this reason, but because of several other reasons too.
