is it just me or is it cyclists as well? i get a few wannabe's on hardtails who think there bike is the tits and they are lance armstrong, and they consistently overtake me. just for them to slow down and as soon as i overtake them, bam they are out of the saddle huffing and puffing trying to keep up.
Funny thing, I find the Lance Armstrong wanabes are always on trick road hardware but ain't got the strength to power uphill. You see on my commute I roll on a single speed, even if I am on the geared bike & as such I tend to keep in the 20~30mph range, cause that's where I spin comfortably on my preferred gear setup. So if I'm someone's passing me going downhill & I pass them uphill I'm just keeping my road speed fairly even rather than chalking up scalps them.

Close, I meant the driving prime directive, not the Trekkie one though.
"Thou shalt pass a cyclist as soon as possible, as quickly as possible, and as closely to them as possible."
In some ways I prefer this to the "Thou shalt ignore the cyclist in primary is at or above the speed limit, stay behind them & show annoyance by revving the engine & blaring the horn". Like exactly what is your problem cause there's 2/3 the road width for you to overtake if you wish break the speed limit & usually there's nothing coming the other way... at 5:30am... in a semi-residential area. Thankfully this is a once in every 3 to 6 months occurrence.
