Hoped this was a thread about the book, Perfume. Anyone read it. Fantastic, but no bike in it.

One of the many things I like about my girlfirend - her perfume is really subtle and so can only be smelt when in close quarters with her, which is just an excuse to get into close quaters I find - I love it!:biggrin:

Do you know when Chanel V was first launched? 1921! Yet it's still in the top ten selling perfumes in the world. Chanel V was the first aldehydic floral, aldehydes are present in citrus oils, they are the sharp fatty smell you get when you peel an orange and the oil sprays out of the sacs in the skin. In 1920 aldheydes were synthesised for the first time and the story goes that the perfumer Ernest Beaux asked his assistant to add a tiny dosage of an aldehyde to a floral blend, the assistant made a mistake and added ten times the dosage, Beaux realised it was right and a classic was created.

RR is a very intelligent man, and obviously knows his stuff.
Dont question his intelligence!!!!!!

There is a difference between intelligence and knowledge Joe!

I never questioned his intelligence, merely how he had knowledge of such a fact.

I think most people are aware Channel V has been around for many years and has always been incredibly successfull, RR's extra 'knowledge' was astounding, unless he works for Channel or a Perfume Manufacturer. :ohmy:

Thanks Mort :smile::blush:

You see Joe... thats a lack of intelligence rather than knowledge!

I grew up with my mother always having a bottle of Chanel in the cupboard so I know how to spell it (Therefore I have the knowledge). But ths morning I was not intelligent enough to do it right....

Either that or the fact I have had no coffee and cigarettes this morning and I am away with the fairies! :laugh::wacko:

Have not had one for 6 weeks and 4 days :ohmy::smile:

But I still crave them with my many morning coffee's, after each meal, after sex, while drinking, while driving... the list is endless!
