Perhaps I shouldn't go out in strong winds...

I was out cycling today and a branch landed just in front of me, scared the life out of me, as like you I spent any of the ride where there were trees looking up, and speeding up to get out of the trees.

It must have been a bigger shock for the car driver.

She had been following me round a bend at about 20 metres or so distance just beforehand. The branch/tree fell into the gap between us, i.e. right in front of her!

Some of the timber to the right of the picture was about 15 inch diameter - it was difficult to move and would have been impossible if it hadn't been honeycombed with rot and insect holes. It would have easily crushed the roof of her car. A bigger danger to me, of course, but at least I didn't see it fall.

The day when it was very windy down here, I was riding home and went past a house near me that used to have two mature evergreen trees in the garden. On that particular day it still had two mature evergreen trees in the garden, only one of them was horizontal! Luckily it had fallen parallel with the road or else there would have been [a] squashed cars or a squashed house! As lucky an escape as the OP's vid I think!

Nice to see you stop and shift it though

Thanks - I'm sending the council any rupture treatment bills for these bits.
