Perils of buying 2nd hand and goings on in my garage

Need to look at the rear tyre on there big galaxy as I had a fairy visit on this morning's ride and knowing how hard the tyres were to get on I wasn't going to do a road side repair so stopped 5 times to re inflate before getting home.

Took mum out for a coffee this morning over to Emmaus in Carlton and nearly asked about doing a swap for her with this Triumph Sebring 300 in good condition and looked all original steel components and possibly a Brooks swift saddle.

A quick re commissioning and you would have a nice period bike from the late 60's or early 70's.

This ol' tandem was being used as a garden display but I wouldn't think it needed too much to get it riding again.

Never been great remembering bird's name's 😂.

Whilst I had the rear wheel out sorting the puncture I removed the pair of derailleur idler gears and scraped/cleaned them and the cage body .

lets say it needs a very "committed" stoker for starters!

Latest arrival is this Trek road bike it's absolutely filthy with about half an inch of grime and dust so can't really see it's general condition yet.

Front derailleur cage is not connected to the cable arm so a session in the garage this morning turned up a suitable front derailleur but it was in the forth storage box not the first so didn't have time to fit it .

Aye, my 2014 Felt isnthe nicest riding road bike I've ever cocked a leg across. I've had carbon frames come and go since then but the Felt has been better all round than every one of them.

This one has a degree of patina so will just have to keep looking forward.

Replacement one fitted along with a new cable just need to set it up now

Yes I think so

Another half an hour this morning doing a few adjustments to the derailleur position and tightened the chain wheel bolts has given me 18 selectable gears on a short test

Just completed maiden 1.5 mile shakedown ride without dramas other than releasing my left foot from the clip in pedal.

But it felt nice and everything happened when it should.

I like the manual "overdrive" front gear change, reach down and pull on the cable for a few revolutions on the big ring!!

I never cut cables till i am sure that things are working and a test ride or two have been completed

Mein got - is that the waste end? I will often leave stuff a bit long until I've finished, but there is a couple of inches of spare vs a couple of feet!

I genuinely thought you'd just put some cable in to test it but hadn't been arsed to attach it to the levers and thread it thru the outers.,

Nice 6.5 miles test ride completed and it went well a couple of minor adjustments en route as per expectations
