Up early this morning and decided to give the headset a once over.

Forks dropped out and given a quick de grease and polish, front wheel hub and rim also cleaned.

Headset was in good condition so cleaned up and fresh grease then all put back together and test ridden.

Rest of bike still needs de greasing and cleaning so still a little bit to do.

Very nice: those old Rockhoppers look lovely when well restored. By the way, I've found some of those dark marks can be removed with the white gritty paste sold for pan scouring.

I don't remember what it's called in the UK, but I know the packaging is similar. Applied neat on a cloth it's surprisingly effective. You'll need to wash it off and polish the bike afterwards.

Tyres have been inflated so will see if they stay up and brakes have been re connected
Seat post has been checked for free movment and is good to go
