Up early this morning and decided to give the headset a once over.

Forks dropped out and given a quick de grease and polish, front wheel hub and rim also cleaned.

Headset was in good condition so cleaned up and fresh grease then all put back together and test ridden.

Rest of bike still needs de greasing and cleaning so still a little bit to do.

Very nice: those old Rockhoppers look lovely when well restored. By the way, I've found some of those dark marks can be removed with the white gritty paste sold for pan scouring.

This stuff:

I don't remember what it's called in the UK, but I know the packaging is similar. Applied neat on a cloth it's surprisingly effective. You'll need to wash it off and polish the bike afterwards.

Another session this morning cleaning and checking and it's ready for a bit of action.
Come up a lot better than expected so that's good.

And rides very nicely just not sure what is going on with the bars.

Another session on the Specialized this morning and we know rear guards and a rack fitted that have been laying around the garage for years, just need to sort out the front one next.

Market place freebie Cannondale Quick just picked up on way back from seaside so that's next in the pile.

Tyres have been inflated so will see if they stay up and brakes have been re connected
Seat post has been checked for free movment and is good to go
