I'm thinking like you jacko.once I lose x amount of weight will I get up that particular hill without feeling like I've just climbed Everest,I'm averaging 13-14mph now for my commute so hoping that will improve too.

Can't do it but thanks.

Yeah but then you'll have no excuse for how slow you are:biggrin: keep to the heavy one and blame that instead.

In the continued spirit of self promotion, my 18 mph avg wasnt a fluke as I repeated it not long after, then tonight managed a 19.7 mph average, few weeks back I was doing 16 or so.

Not getting cocky, its fairly flat and only seven miles and posting like this is tempting to cause karma to deploy someone on a BSO to hand me my arse on a plate.

Once I have done the 20 mph average I will have hit my goal, if tonights run is anything to go by its not as fanciful notion as I thought.

Its good because it means I get some serious exercise on the commute prior to doing a longer route when the clocks change.

Hitting 45 this year I am not sure I will ever get to the magical 20 mile average speed on my 15 mile commute. Best over the last few years has been 19.8 and I thought I was going to die after that ;)

Potsy, probably but you take your glory where you can, have to say it didnt feel like a tailwind, more a sidewind.

19.8 over 15 miles is serious going, dont think I would have kept it up for another 8 miles tonight.

Interested to see what a good club rider would do, how much faster is a "proper" roadie.

Could I have some info on your bike?....or a pic.

Im looking to get a fixie and stick a greentyre on it for my early morning commutes...but at a guess age isn't on my side.

I am really enjoying it, I liked the hybrid but this is in another league, and its kind of entry level road bike wise, wonder how much better three grands worth is, not that I will find out anytime soon !
