Personalised Number Plates

I've never reserved any kind of feeling towards people who own personalised number plates before. But recently I can't help reserving a special kind of 'anger' towards those with plates containing the alphanumerics, 'B1G'. More often than not the reference means the opposite

Oh and I reserve some more 'anger' to the prat who lives near me with the plate, 'CLA55'

Love them or hate them. You've got to admit that they are probably one of the best investments you can get, tax free as well.

No income, no guarantee of capital value preservation, no intrinsic value, cost a lot to maintain the investment (you need a car to put them on), subject to CGT just like anything else. Of value only to the terminally unimaginative.

Saddest thing is that many are bought simply to mask the age of the car!

I know several owners who have early range BMWs and are claiming that they are several years newer than they are.

I just think of them as a tax on the stupid.

Scan the papers some Sunday and will note there is a thriving market for the things. Money spent on them is unlikely to be lost - not many purchases for which you can claim that.

Each to their own as you say but at least a bike has practical use and is not 100% vanity I hope
