Well without a camera, how could I have gotten such a good avatar picture?
Opposite for me, to buy any bike gear I fund it by not drinking for however many weeks it takes to save the money.
I really don't know how so many people can place so much faith in the ability of a device, hidden from view unless seen from the front can:
Then you would be in very big trouble and might have had a slight punch drunk event there(fun and irritating for passerbys)should have started today with whiskey instead of coffee methinks!![]()
You've missed the main advantage of the camera, completely. I've recorded and deleted hour upon hour of my cycling. Never posted, and have had a few near misses, idiots etc. The reason, I have the camera, is that if I get taken out by a hit and run driver; or by a driver who denies the facts and blame etc. The video might, just give me some evidence that could be used to defend, and/or prosecute. It's better than nothing, that's all there is to it.And that would encourage me to 'perform' for the camera.
I really don't know how so many people can place so much faith in the ability of a device, hidden from view unless seen from the front can:
Make motorists approaching from the rear alter their behaviour
Make motorist approaching from the side moderate their behaviour
Make the bearer of the camera appear as rider who does not wrong and follower of all of the Highway Code rules
Make people moderate their their behaviour if they spot the camera
See the camera as an educational tool
Make the bearer appear 'holier than thou'
I'd rather spend the money on something that makes me drunk.
BT Openzone van has been cleared of any wrong doing,on checking the rear camera,he did actually slow down before he overtook me,it just didn't seem like it at the time.
Dangerous cyclist RLJ (dangerous for him methinx) near Aldgate and also a dodgy car overtaking a bus beforehand.Don't know why they drive so differently in this weather.I may make a video of that.
Mercury rising, that's what it is, mercury rising.
Before I went down to Homebase earlier, in the car, because the strimmer was out of line, I told myself be careful as it is hot and there will be lots of life's tossers, fat tossers wearing football shirts driving the family car with only them in like maniacs and sure enough there were plus two thugs in a Mercedes box van who insisted on tailgating me most of the way home along rural country roads, got about 1 foot behind my car when I slowed and followed a roadie who was scooting along at about 25mph. I passed the cyclist some time later when it was safe. They didn't like this and overtook me on the next blind bend narrowly missing an oncoming car and giving me a middle finger salute which I obligingly returned, then about 400m later the van suddenly turned left into a side road. Muppets. It was pretty hot. There were lots of others cars being driven extremely fast. On reflection I think the red mist came down for many car drivers today as the mercury climbed up the scale of the thermometer.
I am sorry, but I forgot you were in a car and was going to say that I was amazed you had to slow to 25mph!Mercury rising, that's what it is, mercury rising.

I had a ped at some lights notice it. As well as someone on the coastal path even though I passed him at 25mph (he was on the other side of a barrier on some rocks). I have so many people (other than vehicles) who notice my camera and ask me "Is that a camera?".Don't worry, some quite clearly notice the cameras.. I get plenty of road users talking to me about them.
