PhotoBucket has recently become a nightmare to use. Slooooow; mainly because of the number of pop-up adverts and videos which auto start. Ad-block doesn't help, oddly, as it does on every other site I use.
It's all a cynical attempt no doubt, to get us to sign up to their pop-up which says you can go ad-free for $15 per year. No thanks, I'd rather use another site.
What is the preferred photo hosting site for the knowledgeable members of CC these days? I am a low usage type; only putting the odd photo on to a hosting site to share on here.

i just upload from my phone tablet etc..

No need to on here, just double click on 'upload a file' then when the dialogue box comes up select 'libraries'> 'photos' find the image and double click it and then either select 'thumbnail' or 'full image'......................jobs a good un. :becool:

I use Google to store all the photos I post on CycleChat and anywhere else. Just go to sites.google.com, and you can create multiple sites, each with a 100MB limit. The site I created for all the France tour photos from September was the 3rd I'd created. Unlike Photobucket it's fast to access.

Must try again, but I thought the last time I tried that it kept saying the file was too big or something? Maybe a phone snap would be ok but if it was taken with a proper camera wonder if it would still upload?

Out of curiosity, I've tried this one which was taken with a camera. It took slightly longer to upload than the phone camera one of the meringue, but not much longer. It's only a 5 megapixel camera though. Rider's eye view on the A93 Ballater to Perth during the rush hour....

Or you can just do thumbnail attachments. Clever site, this!
can you remove your own images from CC or do they become permanent under the full and exclusive control of CC ?
and can you show them elsewhere n the web ?
I'm sure you can remove them from CC simply by editing the relevant posts.
As long as the original photos are held on YOUR computer, surely you can show them wherever you want on the web?
So you don't have any control over your image other than editing your post within the time period allowed, so therefore once another member quoted your post the image would be forever out of your own control. I think this is where I like the principle of a 3rd part host then I could remove my image from anywhere it is shown from a link t the 3rd party (obviously if someone else screen shot the image and uploaded it somewhere else then control is less easy)

And yes as long as the image is still on my own computer I can always upload it elsewhere, however a third party host would allow me to share the image in other ways all from the same upload.

So yes I do like the ease of CC for hosting images, but like everything else in life there is often other considerations
when a popular forum i used was bought by verticalscope they changed the T&Cs ( unfair contract srings to mind) which gave them sole rights to anything posted on the forum. they refused people to edit and delete posts frim years ago with pics in .

I always make sure i use an external host for pics.

I would love to know what that noscript thing for mozilla is. the one i search for in add ons doesnt seem to be like what the poster described it as.

Photobucket is dire at moment. unusable on iphone anymore. close to pulling all relevant pics from it and deleting account.

I could have written the OP myself. I think I might also ditch PB as it's so frustratingly slow. TBH the less information there is about me and my family out there, the better.
