Is there any way you can transfer the drivetrain from number 4 to number 3 (I'm a technical numpty so know nothing about these things).

Borrow some raceblades from a club mate?

Hire a van, get Mr/Mrs Alecstilleyde to follow you with all of the said bikes in the back of the van.

Whenever you reach a new challenge, pause, select your weapon and then like a surgeon directing the theatre nurse, issue your instruction, mount your stead and attack!

apparently there are hills worse than the ones around here (and i live near the peak district and staffs moorlands) near the end of the outward trip, so the triple alu bike is a no brainer now.

thedoctor kindly offered me a compact chainset for the steel bike, but i'd still be losing out on low gears.
