The Radio 2 programme looking at a pair of archive music charts is a radio fixture of the last three decades. I've always enjoyed it but it's moved up a gear recently since Tony Blackburn took over from Dale Winton. He's gone over to a live format, imported a suite of retro jingels and is really cooking.

1975 & 1984 this week. The first was, for the most part, a disco disappointment but 1984's actually rather good.

Beat me to it, I was going to post on the same subject.
I disagree about 1975 however, it was a brilliant session, AWB, Anousha Fox, Cockney Rebel, Helen Reddy, Pilot, Tina Charles, Dana, Carpenters ... brilliant.
Yep, 1984 good too.

Great having TB back on the radio ... blimey, never thought I'd say that!

I thought I heard Tony Blackburn.... had the radio on in the background while doing stuff... can't stand Dale Winton's radio manner....

Not a big fan of either TB or DW, however, I do make a point of listening to Sounds of the 70's with Johnnie Walker.

Stuck in a bit of a musical time warp I suppose.

radio 2 the only station there is , and i hate to admit it getting use to chris evans as well

The only oldies programme I listen to regularly is NetWork Gold with John Platt. Saturday 6pm BBC WM and BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.

Yes TB would be a bit much in any other programme but on this he just fits in right.

My only gripe with R2 is bloody Evans, really can't stand him and I did give it a go for a fair time. Up to 9.30 the double glazing adverts sung to old Wurzle songs is tolerable.

Went to see "One Step Behind" at my local pub last night. Great mix of Ska hits - whole pub was bopping along to it.
