The relationship between volume and weight is quite difficult for some people to understand. We sell a variety of liquid chemical products with differing SGs to customers in the Muslim parts of West Africa. Our customers buy by weight but decant by volume into 75cl whisky bottles (don't ask where they get the bottles in a supposedly Sharia state) and they can't understand why they can get 32 whisky bottles of some liquids out of a 25 kg drum but only 28 bottles of another liquid. You can't explain; you just have to accept that they think you are cheating them, like everybody else does.

Let Radius of large circle be R

Let each white are be White
.......
Thus, radius of small circle is R/2
......

1 Area of quadrant = (pi) (R^2)/4 = A

2 Area of two semi circles = (pi) (R/2)^2 = (pi) (R^2)/4 = A
......

Consider Quadrant

2White + Blue + Red = A

Consider semicircles:

(White + Blue) * 2 = A

Therefore,
2White + Blue + Red = (White + Blue) * 2

2White + Blue + Red = 2White +2Blue

Blue +Red = 2Blue

Red = Blue

QED

Nice - took a while to notice the key elements though.

1. The area of the semicircles ignoring the overlap is equivalent to the total area in question.

2. That removing the white area from the above construct is the same as removing the White area from the diagram, therefore your "Blue +Red = 2Blue"

Cheers. I'll remember that.

Hilarious! Until they start waving guns...

The idea of metric inches has been stuck in my head all day like a bad pop song.

How do I get rid?

I've had a pie related pseudo-earworm since I read this thread https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/controversy-as-pasty-wins-the-british-pie-award.197367/

"The big men fly for a Herbert Adams pie. The little men get nasty, and settle for a pasty"

"The big men fly" is a saying from Australian Rules, "The big men fly for a Herbert Adams pie" is a trade mark of a pie company. The whole thing was a school yard rhyme when I was kid. Such is the birth of many Nursery Rhymes.
