in answer to the OP... get a peregrine. the ones in Fulham loves pigeons and parakeets.

Now you're making me envious, Reiver. Gorgeous male Brambling on the left of your table (and probably a female on the right?).
I've only once seen these in my garden - they're a bit uncommon round these parts, but I keep looking.

Ah, I was on the Rhein last year and heard some but couldn't see them. As I thought it would be too cold in winter for them, I wasn't sure. Your post confirms that they are there.

There's a pair which spend a fair time on the ash tree outside my window who've driven off most of the smaller birds. Though luckily that didn't stop a little troupe of goldfinches paying visits these last two days.

Rather, er, charmingly, the collective noun is a charm of Goldfinches. :smile: No criticism intended!!!
