How quickly did yours die then?
We 'adopted' 2 when they were 3 years old thinking they wouldn't live much longer. they didn't die of old age, but 5 years later mysteriously disappeared one night around the same time that a 'missing' poster went up in the local village post office... a missing poster for a ferret.

Funnily enough the winning bid was withdrawn

I don't remember precisely but 5-7 years I think.

Sounds about right, most of mine have lived to that sort of age, one remains, she is about 5-6 years old.

Our nextdoor neighbour's guinea pig could do with an armoured suit to stop it being humped by the rabbit it shares a hutch with.

The noise of a rabbit getting it on with a guinea pig is not very pleasant. A bit like a squeeky deflating balloon!
