Net spend 11m if Torres goes for 50, don't forget Babel's gone, someone actually bought him  Stronger looking squad.

I wonder how Torres will deal with having to wash every day just to feel better about the stigma of playing for Mourinho's, sorry I mean Ancelotti's, upstarts, shoplifters, philanderer's and drama queens...admired by the Stamford Bridge faithful (nearly two years support from most of them) singing his name in their designated chanting area, with a free flag handed out to them courtesy of a desperate Russian oligarch.

It was interesting to hear what 5 Live had to say about it all. Motty thinks Chelsea has bought well, but is not so sure about Liverpool. He thought Birmingham had done especially well, but Aston Villa and Fulham had done some good deals too. They all thought Robbie Keane was a good buy for West Ham. Blackpool are up against it because they lost their best player to Liverpool. I read Konchelski has gone on loan to Nottingham Forrest. I thought Liverpool were short of left backs.

Spurs seem to be bidding for Forlan now, so they may have lost interest in carroll?

Harry Redknapp was on the radio saying they never really considered him because they couldn't afford his £140,000 a week wages. He said Carroll was too much money. He was interested in Phil Neville, but Everton didn't want to sell.

Interesting, because one of the considerations is wages. Caroll may be expensive to buy but he was only on 27K a week at Newcastle whereas Torres was 50Mill plus what, 170K a week at Chelsea.

Yeah but Motty is getting a bit past it.

I still think Liverpool have offloaded Torres - who'se looked disinterested for months - for a monstrous fee and got 2 forwards who complement each other (if fit) and could be a good move.

It appears Charlie Adam is staying at Blackpool.

quote from BBC

"And here's another one for Tangerine fans, with news emerging from Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston that - as it stands - Charlie Adam will not be leaving the club, despite the attentions of Liverpool and, previously, Aston Villa"

so that's good news for Blackpool, but not for Liverpool.

Still - when Carroll's fit I'm sure Kenny will play a 442 with Carroll and Saurez complementing each other - and Morieles and Gerrard aren't a bad supply line.

I agree Koncheski loaned to Forest makes no sense - unless the wage bill was getting too much.

As I said before - I don't see Torres and Drogba fitting together. I think Liverpool (even without Adam) have come out of all this the best.

Weird to see Man City spend nothing.

So much for Chelsea 'breaking even'. Once a small club always a small club

LOL, cheers Chelsea.

I look forward to Torres scraping with Drogba for the position of which only one of them can play.

Just a bit annoyed that we did not have time to buy another player who would give us a bit of width who can cross the ball as well.

I almost feel sorry Torres going to a club whose fans will no where near appreciate him more as Liverpool have done.

Are you Liverpool Lee?

I agree with everything you say - I'm waiting a Chelsea fan coming along and justifying £50 million for Torres

To Torres football is a business, no doubt he has had a hefty pay rise for warming the Chelsea bench with his arse for half the season.

BTW, total spent on transfers by English clubs this month is £214,525,000.

Beat on that same old drum why don't you. Everyone knows it's jealousy !

200 odd million..I hope there's VAT and import duty on the foreign deals. I look forward to the closing of the tax loopholes to ensure the image rights loopholes are closed for players salaries.
It's obvious now Tories wanted away..if that's the case 50m was a great deal. Suarez is a good buy..paid over the odds for caroll..but keep him fit and sober and he will compliment suarez.

As a Liverpool fan I think we did quite well out of yesterday. The Torres of 18 months ago, I would have been upset to sell. The sulky Torres we just got 50million for, I'll miss him a bit but I think as people have said, Carroll and Suarez should form a good (possibly great) forward line. With Suarez hopefully creating a bit of mayhem, Gerrard will have more room to operate too. Shame we couldn't get Charlie Adam, we could have swapped him for Lucas....
