Effect/affect - I keep getting these muddled up. Would you oblidge?
Effect is the noun - the thing that happens as a result of something else.

"The curry I just ate has had an effect on me."

Affect is the verb - the thing you do, to cause an effect.

"I've been affected by the curry I just ate"

(although I've just had chilli, and had no effects at all)

Never mind, I'd have been either listening to The Archers, or on the phone to Mum at the time anyway....
