Is he Moominpapa from Tove Jansson's Finn Family Moomintroll?

Is she still up in Karlstad (Sweden) without her "doggy" passport to get back home? She was very brave, protecting me from Longer's dog.

I read the Moomintroll Family books when I was very young, and recently came across them again while in Sweden on holiday last September.

Tove Jannson has written a book of short stories for adults called "A Winter Book", I found a second hand copy, but have yet to read it.
