I was one of the latecomers to your 3 months without a drink thread.

Well, tonight's the night. It has been 3 long(ish) months without any alcohol since 12:00am on Monday 4 January. A (hopefully) lovely bottle of Sancerre is chilling as I type, ready to be uncorked in about 45 minutes.

Hopefully 3 months without a drink will mean that I will be full as a lord after a couple of glasses!

Many thanks for the post-Xmas inspiration - I didn't lose as much weight as I had hoped, but I did not put any on and that makes it all worthwhile. I think I might make this an annual thing - we saved a fortune over the last 3 months with me on the cream soda and lemonade and I have learned to hate Mondays for all the right reasons - not just because I have a hangover.

Bottoms up!

Absolutely well done!
You may be the one and only true completer! Mrs FF gave in just days before the finish.
That's a great achievement. I'm pleased that several people found it a useful experiment, I shall certainly do somethin similar again.

I'm interested in hearing how it goes now you can drink again.

Well, I've had a can of Stella 4%, which I did not enjoy and the bottle of Sancerre, which was not as nice as I thought it would be. I thought I would be as drunk as a lord, but I'm just a little bit merry, but more than a little concious of the calories I've taken tonight.

So I'm just a little disappointed. However, I'm in training for the Belfast Marathon on 3 May, so I might just treat tonight as a little blow-out and go back to the cream soda and lemonade for another month.

Maybe tonight is too soon to decide, but I think your experiment might have broken me!

Interesting...
Our consumption has dropped considerably. Mrs FF's had her first proper night out on the falling-down juice recently and really didn't enjoy the effect at all. I guess we are both far more abstemious that we were... My 3 very large glasses of wine per day has become the occasional small bottle of good beer with wine only appearing as a weekend treat.
Better sleep, clearer heads and a fuller wallet are the benefits!

Funny you should mention good beer, but the last time I truly enjoyed a pint was trying one of every ale sold on draught in the Coal Hole, The Strand, London last October. An afternoon of true pleasure...

Maybe the secret is to enjoy the taste, rather than the effect. Have a little of the best stuff rather than a bucket full of falling down juice!

I think I'll give it a while till I drink again - seems like a bit of a waste, all things considered...

Oh, and I should mention that I was only ever a binge drinker - never a civilised glass of wine on a schoolnight for me! If I couldn't have a bucket full, I'd rather have nothing at all.

All seems a little pointless, in hindsight...
