She hasn't quite got the freeboard for an ocean voyage. I did cross the River Medina in the Isle of Wight quite near the sea, and it was a little more choppy. (not me pedalling in this one)

That seat is part of an office chair, the one in the first pic was out of a 2CV. We only changed it because we forgot to pack the 2CV seat for the Isle of Wight trip.:rolleyes:

Yes, after Ratty in Wind in the Willows, who had a little boat that was blue outside and white inside.

Also, a play on the name of the plan - it's officially known as a Flats Rat, a form of mouseboat

The point of them is that you can build one out of two standard sheets of marine ply, with minimal woodworking skills. They can be adapted for any sort of propulsion.

My friend John Jermy has a nice one.
