I was cycling down the hill from Farley Mount towards Standon (Hursley) - understandably quite fast. Was it you coming up the hill? A couple of small panniers on board...?

Slow? It is a steep old hill! I managed over 40mph downhill and that is on my singlespeed so no pedalling once I get over about 18mph!

I’ve never riden down that hill.....just up it, I’ve always said the day I have to push my bike up it, that’s the day my bikes go on ebay
Noooooooo!!!!! Don't do it NN, don't hang up your cycling kit! I can't manage Ditchling Beacon anymore, last time I did it - and it stretched me to the limit - was back in 2006, and I'm not even going to try it, now. But I'm still cycling, within my capability. I just hope, the day I give up I'll be in a wooden box with the lid screwed down....
