There's a good interview with Pippa York in the Guardian today, promoting her new book The Escape by David Walsh & Pippa York

As Pippa was one of my heroes on a bike I've preordered, it'll be out this week.

I went to rewatch the cafe ride YouTube video with Matt Stephens, which was incredibly moving, but it's been removed 😞

Would the video be on the Sigma Sports channel on youtube.
Seems there's a few Cafe Ride videos available on facebook. The one you want may be amongst them.

That seems to be very much Lachlan Morton, who is definitely not Pippa York. I'm pretty sure Pippa doesn't have an American accent

I'm pretty sure Lachlan doesn't have an American accent either 😉.

Just read her book. I was a big fan of Robert Millar when I was first getting in to the sport, so I’ve been very curious to know her story. This book satisfies my curiosity but it’s mostly sad.

It was interesting seeing various broadcasters trip over how to describe her win in Superbagneres in 89.

There was "Pippa York, racing then as Robert Millar", "Rober Millar, now known as Pippa York" and just "Robert Millar [...] she won the stage"

Danish coms barely mentioned it and I'm not sure they mentioned the Pippa part at all.

But it is a bit awkward, and I'm not sure the correct etiquette. Deadnaming isn't nice, but at the same time the historic commentary will be "Robert" and that's what's in the results lists, and it does seem weird to refer to Pippa and NOT Robert. It's a bit clunky, but I think anyone making a genuine effort to not be an peanut will be alright.

I've bought the book but haven't read it yet, I imagine there could be a clue as to a preferred approach in it.

It can be awkward, and different people feel differently about it depending on their experiences and outlook - there's no single etiquette here. Good intent gets you a long way though and at least they're trying.

Pippa not a fan of Richard Moore, or his book, evidently..
