I was there......I stayed off the grass, there was a time I couldn't truly say that.

Edinburgh Castle - cost a lot of money just to be in a queue and herded like cattle around the place with so many other people it was impossible to see and explore it anyway.

It helped remind me why I normally avoid the tourist traps and explore the lesser travelled places.

I found myself staying overnight in the WRAF block quite a few times in the 1990s. Sometimes the reason to "not" be there was the regulatory one. Other times it was to do with the partner that you'd chosen, and the clarity that daylight brought.

Old members of the armed forces will know and remember the early morning "walk of shame". We all did it, male and female.

Stumbled into a bit of no mans land in Nicosia Cyprus, between Greek and Turkish outposts. When they all started shouting at each other we decided to beat a hasty retreat. They don't really get on do they!

Upside down in my kayak with my head stuck in the sand whilst being smashed by the waves driven by a force 8. The same day the grain carrier ended up on Brighton beach, I thought that was the end, snapped the kayak getting out of it.
