I'm looking into the planet x pro carbon bikes and I am very interested. I was originally going with the ultegra but I noticed a lot of people say that force 22 is better than ultegra 6800. The SRAM is more expensive as well so I was wondering which one was better and which one to go for as the specs are very similar. Ultegra? - http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBPXSLPULT6800/planet-x-pro-carbon-shimano-ultegra-6800-road-bike

Or sram .. Which is cheaper but the group set is more expensive?http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBPXSLPFOR22/planet-x-pro-carbon-sram-force-22-road-bike

Can anyone offer any advice and clear things up a bit for me?

Thanks (:

Did you ever try both in Person? Both are excellent groupsets but the shifting and ergonomics are quite different. Before just buying it and then regretting it I would recommend you to try them before you buy em.

I bought an Ultegra one Dec last year for £900 and really happy with it (especially at that price as its now £300 more) , and funnily enough my cousin was in touch a couple of weeks ago asking about the planet and he has gone for the sram force option, I think price wise if I was buying now I would go for the sram....

Ultegra would be my choice as I've used them on several bikes and find that they are very good however I must admit I've never tried a Force.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neither have I, I'm waiting to try my cousins, but heard v-good reviews on sram groupsets and also comments from people who would not go back to shimano after using sram, I'm using ultegra 6800 on a couple of bikes but deep down from years ago when I have a bit more cash I'll be going back to top end campag........maybe...or dura ace Di.... dilemma...I'll wait till I've got the money and then decide on something totally different.......:shy:

I'd always had Shimano until I got my Planet-X last year & I opted for the SRAM Force & think I prefer the SRAM, but TBH there's not much between them.

What klassikbike bike said. You'd need your bumps feeling to spunk out North of a grand on a bike without riding it first.

I would try them both but I don't know how, ibdont know anyone with the groupsets and since its online, its not like I can ask the shop like I might be able to if it was a physical shop- also what would make the SRAM bike so much cheaper?

This is a bit like asking a photographer which is better Nikon or Canon. They are both overall as good as each other, it comes down to personal preference.

As others have said - neither is 'better' than the other. Force will be slightly lighter, if that's important. The function of the gear shift process and the hood shape are important considerations for you - and neither can be decided over the internet. You have to try them.

I'm just wandering also how the SRAM bike has a more expensive group set, is lighter But is a cheaper bike and the specs look very similar???
