Planning a self-build

For some time we have been planning ideas for a self build house.

We wanted something eco-ish (though the term makes me cringe) that was also traditional in its look and feel. We've narrowed it down to eith a full cob design or wooden frame and block bail construction.

Anyone here got any experience of self-build and using these types of methods?
