Wrong inference. You'd be amazed at the n'er do wells that lurk about in the night.

The the n'er do wells that lurk about in the night round by me tend not to steal plants but break into houses as they've tried my current house a couple of times.

I had my garden gate knicked once, a neighbour saw them doing it and when i asked why she didn't stop them she said they might have took "a fence"

As a teenager there were 4 houses in the next village that all had gnomes, we would go into the gardens & move them around, both in the same garden & between the gardens, we also once put them all in a line at the bus stop. At the time we thought it very funny, but looking back if somebody had done that to me I would have been angry. But we actually took care not to damage them.
