Playing a round...

Anyone enthused by the British Open? that's the normal term used for an excuse to wear a randomly bad piece of knitwear or tote a tranche of nylon with the word 'PING' on the side. (Always want to write 'PONG' on t'other...one day...)
But.
There is a darker side to this phrase apparently. and now there are threats to take the covers off the woods and the drivers and lay bare people's preferences for their tee shots...here.

Do you play?

My brothers-in-law are mad for golf but I've never seen the attraction.

I've visited the local driving range twice and each time had a crack at belting 100 golf balls down the range to see how far I could get them to go. The ones that went behind me didn't count. The ones that pinged off the sidewalls and hit me (and others) didn't count either. The three that I managed to hit properly went all of 30ft down the range, but that was far enough for me to do a little whoopin' an' hollerin' :wahhey:

I can appreciate the skill involved though and feel sorry for the golfers who manage to find the sand pits and puddles (is that the correct golfing terminology?). :giggle:

Playing a round .... Playing around ... I've only just got it myself after following the link.

Subtle 'Teef ... #yougotme!

Oh, and to answer the question ... a definite NO!
Shaun. Topics...you're all for 'em! Understandably you're also confused because people are slinging the chairs around in the café, and it is getting all political snobby 'in here' lately. I could have posted as AnotherSamSnead I suppose, but there's a fairway to go before that happens. "Fore!"
Maybe this could be moved to the tee thread?

Can I claim the 5th (it's a par 3).
I did wonder if the thread about clubs in Languedoc Roussillon was a sister thread.
