Please recommend some Winter Boots

Some one I know has asked me to recommend some winter boots for him. He is shortly setting out on a journey across a very wintery landscape. He expects to encounter snow and slush. So he needs boots that will keep his feet cosy and warm as well as dry.

Can you suggest some boots to keep out the snow and the rain, that are not too deer?

Not cheap though. I've had a pair for about 15 years and they are still in excellent condition.

I've got a pair of Northwave Celsius Arctic GTX which are SPD boots. Waterproof, and very warm. But buy a size up so you can fit a couple of pairs of socks on too.

I took the post as meaning "cycling boots" too.

Hmm I think I might be one of them!! I get the impression there may be more to this than meets the eye

These are practical: they even have a mobile-phone holder. And the heel thing lets you pierce the snow, for greater stability. Probably. Oh, it's a bloke. Never mind, he can be a trend-leader.
