Hi everyone,

I've roughly £700 to spend and have some across two bikes which seem ideal for commuting and riding around the local park and some trips around the welsh countryside/snowdonia. The two contenders are..

Bianchi Jab 7400 2011 - http://www.bianchi.com/global/bikes/bikes_detail.aspx?ProductIDMaster=48447

Scott Scale 70 2010 - http://www.startfitness.co.uk/product.asp?p_id=39048

I can get the Bianchi for £675 and the Scott for £599.. Bianchi has only been riden 50 miles, the scott is brand new. I've read some great reviews on the Scott, but haven't heard much on the Bianchi, but it looks well specced for the price.

My current bike is way too small for me, so its time i upgraded. I need your expert dvice please guys. Maybe theres a different bike you could recommend which beats both in spec. My budget is £700. I don't mind if its second hand or brand new.

Also if anybody is selling a bike in the Uk for the same sort of money, and prepared to deliver it to Birmingham please share.

I keep coming back to this as a rather good deal if an 18" is the right size

I got the women's version on advice from this forum

I wouldn't personally use an MTB for road commuting unless changing tyres

Cheers for sharing that deal with me Vickster, and a nice one it is. Shame it seems a little underpar if compared to the two I mentioned, otherwise i'm proven wrong? I can see theres quite a price difference.

The Kona started at £850, an older clearance model. I am certainly not very knowledgeable on MTBs but it has a good groupset (certianly the next level up from both I think), disc brakes, good forks and wheels

Mr Cubist will be along soon - he is very expert on hardtails
