I'm trying to get off the covers over the filters in a thermostatic shower mixer/tap. It has no name on it, so I guess it's a cheap Italian jobby.

The covers have slots like they are intended for a coin edge. I made a 2p piece fit by grinding it thinner (oh-err, naughty) but no-go.

ANY ideas?

A large flat bladed screwdriver should do the trick, or a strong wood chisel.

Don't forget to grease the threads when you put it back.
