Pneumonia in this thread...stay out

I picked up a nasty infection in the hospital last month and was treated for pneumonia...2 courses strong anti biotics etc...What i dont understand is how it is possible for th ehuman lungs to carry a petrol tanker full of phlegm each?????...where does it all come from???...and then there is the cough of doom I'v ehad for 6 weeks...and the fever and the generally feeling crap...

Not nice - All that green stuff is the white blood cells which have come to attack the infection. I'm full of cold ATM and really feel crap now - not as bad as you thought. GWS

I do feel for you - I managed to develop pneumonia after getting swine flu a few years ago. It's nasty and draining so take care of yourself and don't try to do too much even if you start to feel a bit better.

Take care BOAB, someone I worked with had pneumonia, and then spent the next 12 months catching every single sniffle going - I don't know if that is standard for pneumonia but it really seemed to knock his immune system for a bit.

Probably a bit late but you can get a jab which I think covers 90% of the usual suspects.

Sorry to hear about this. I rate pneumonia as the worst thing I've ever had so I can understand how you're feeling. I hope you get over it quickly!

I had it a few Years ago, it was awful. I was coughing up blood and fighting for every breath of air, frightened the life out of me.

thankyou all...yep not to funny really...and yep been coughing up blood at times as well...but today i felt a bit better and i decided i'd ride anyway..35 miles ...for some reason all the cars behind me had their wipers on

I had two trips to hospital recently, totalling a week in, since I've come out it seems that my immune system is shot to pieces, I've been going down with coughs and colds with monotonousness regularity.
