Poaching...

...eggs, thereof.
I've never got on with poaching eggs in swirling vinegar water and my traditional 4 egg poaching pan seems a fag, so I rarely have them.
I've recently splashed out on this clear plastic, microwave gismo.
I'm about to give it its first run out - I know you'll all be desperate to know how I get on so I'll be posting a photo of the result later.

My experience of such devices is that you end up with eggs that explode, refuse to set or turn to concrete.

They will eggsplode. Those microwave dodads are pants but good luck and I hope they work for you.

I have some disposable poaching bags that you put the egg in and then lob into pan of boiling water.....

Before I scrolled I didn't see the gizmo and wondered how the empty bottle would work. How would one get an egg in without scrambling?

My trick. Place egg still in the shell in the boiling water for 20s. Then scoop it out, then crack the egg into the water. The slight precook hold it together nicely.

My missus uses those type of egg poachers. You add water in with the eggs apparently.
Seem to work fine - no blow ups at all.

Yes, a drop or two of water.
It was a curate's egg...
...assuming the curate likes one rubbish poached egg and one tolerable one! They stick and cooked at different rates so one was done and you can't get one out very easily.
Back to the drawing board and maybe Markymark's idea.
They don't explode as you prick them before cooking.
I may have another go but probably a fiver down the pan...
