I remember listening to an interview in the early 80s and for some reason this bit lodged in my memory:

Interviewer: Why did you call the band Black Sabbath?
Ozzy: I'd just come out of Winson Green [prison]. We weren't going to call ourselves the Pink Fairies were we?
