More of a dumb system on a car but anyway

I mean - who though this was a good idea

the driver is OK - but the petrol tanker in the next lane might blow up
and the school bus will get noisy as the kids burn to death

The cutbacks are hitting

Earlier this evening I was walking up the street to the corner when I saw what looked like a large black shed coming down the street towards me. I live in Canada which means the bulk of the vehicles here are American and therefore stupidly large, but this thing was unusual.

It turned out to be the latest iteration of the Cadillac Escalade. This one, being blessed with the full blackout treatment, looked especially large and stupid.

Between this thing and the new electric VW bus ( at 7000 pounds ) it’s no wonder we are killing the planet.

North America really doesn’t get it. All of the US based manufacturers have discontinued “cars” in favour of SUVs and trucks, the only exception being muscle cars which certainly can’t be described as “eco”.

No kidding, this thing is about 7 1/2 feet tall, depending on model. Then of course you fit over size wheels ( 22” rims ), a lift kit and a roof rack for full effect.

I could probably get my car *inside* that. With room to spare. And that's talking about my Skoda, not my Mini.

A certain US president was moaning a while back that Europe doesn't want to buy American cars. When you see the above, it's blazingly obvious why...

America doesn’t make cars. I have a Ford Focus which I love but it is now discontinued over here due to a lack of interest
along with every other remotely sensible vehicle.

Thanks goodness for the Japanese and the Koreans or we’d not be able to get anything fuel efficient over here because the Europeans only send over their higher value stuff.
