Police flout cycling laws

Just after dark yesterday I passed two policemen cycling down the main road in Airdrie- neither had any lights fitted, front or rear! It seems they only enforce the laws, they don't actually obey them.

Didn't have them fitted or didn't have them on?....I turn mine off if there is good reason....same for when I cycle on a foot path....

Did they have all their hi-viz kit on?

Batteries are very hard to come by in the police service with all the cut backs.

They weren't fitted. Having been stopped when I was a kid for cycling on the pavement as I had no lights and made to walk home, it's a bugbear of mine.

Of course...and I wear black...pity about those horible reflective bits on our uniforms
On a more serious note, they should really have made sure they had lights fitted before leaving the station. With this job you never know when you are going to be late getting back.

There's the difficulty. Walking home from the pub just now I didn't see 2 PCSOs cycling up the wrong side of the A2. There's no point asking me whether they had lights or not, as I said, I didn't see them...

My mind is racing over how the police would 'blend in' in Airdrie. Drinking Buckfast in public? :-)
