I'd just like to say a few words about Portsmouth CTC. Having been on a few of their rides and met some of their regulars, they're some of the loveliest people on two wheels. They welcomed me without batting an eyelid and I felt right at home. They are the first club I've joined and was somewhat unsure what the reception would be of someone on a mountain bike with no visible lycra who didn't want to ride hell for leather. Suffice it to say my concerns were long forgotten by the first mile. I mean, I couldn't even see them they were so far ahead from all the red light jumping, and with all the discarded gel packets I had to stop and pick up, well.
They run a varied ride schedule to cater for different speeds, routes and distances and are inclusive and accommodating. No rider left behind and only the very best cafes serving the very best cake are patronised. You've already missed a ride today, so you've no excuse to miss the next one!
