Hi,

I recently purchased some Schwalbe Big Apples cheap(ish) from Amazon Marketplace to spur me on to commute to work again after the Christmas break/freeze and was surprised to discover that they do not have the reflective strip. To be fair, the seller's description did not say it would have it but the more I look online for plain black BAs the more convinced I am that either I've been fobbed off with fakes or extremely old stock  no label/tag on them either...

Anyone here ever heard of fake Schwalbes?

Cheers,

Chugs

Can't really see that somebody would go to the trouble of faking something with such a limited market. That's why it's usually perfume, cigs etc.
If they're old i wouldn't think it makes any difference to their performance or safety.
Saw these on google image search, so there must be some out there:

re the tyres - do they work and are you happy with the price you paid? I can't imagine they'd be forgeries, but may be old stock.

Fake or not, I like the look of 'em and they roll nicely - time will tell! Suppose I would have paid a couple of extra quid for the strip - I commute mostly when working the late shift... what's done is done!

Reflective strip on the tyres should be way, way down the list of things to keep you safe, to be honest.
