It looks like that hateful Adam Crozier is out to get rid of the Post Office's fleet of bikes and make the posties do their deliveries in vans or with trollies (read here). Guess what the loathsome man's justification is: health and safety

I think he'll meet opposition from a number of quarters, including the posties themselves.

If not there'll be a load of very good Pashley utility bikes up for sale....

I can't imagine Adam Crozier has very much to do with the policy at all.

He gets my vote, anyway. With enough time he might have dragged the CWU as far as the late 20th Century.

Yeah, fantastic.

More speeding delivery vans in residential areas driven by people given unrealistic targets to meet.

I'm no fan of either the post office management or the unions, but tip o' the hat to the Winchester posties, many of whom deliver by bike. Not only do they have to deal with all the hills on some not very light or well geared bikes, but the depot is just off Easton Lane, easily the worst cycling road in Winchester (which also happens to be the start of the NCN 23 - go figure).

It's rather depressing - more vans on the road. and the loss of a humanised and quite redeeming facet of our society.
