To sort your own courier. It’s fairly standard. We don’t ship outside uk. Customers arrange their own couriers to collect directly from us.

I wouldn't want the hassle, certainly not for a one off thing. Maybe if I had a courier account, it was a regular thing, etc. Tbh, I wasn't even thinking that far, It just struck me as amusing, not being 'in the know' as it were.

I thought the 'arrange pickup' bit was amusing, intentional or otherwise.

No - what they're offering you is an alternative delivery/collection point - probably in a small town close to you.

This option for courier deliveries has existed in France for several years.

It's cheaper - and you don't have to stay at home for the courier. You can collect the package at your convenience.

I sometimes wonder if we live in the same country @yello

You don’t want the hassle. I agree. The company probably also doesn’t want the hassle. Hence they use a service that integrates well, is efficient, doesn’t mess their customers around and meets their needs. Typically this isn’t the cheapest.

I'm sure there are lots of things that exist in France that I don't know about. And elsewhere too for that matter. I don't profess to know everything.

The remark genuinely amused me, end of. I had images of me pedalling off to somewhere in Germany to pick up a £3 spring and washer

MrsPete sent off a free competition entry thingie that she got when she bought a pair of shoes a couple of months ago. It was a Freepost address otherwise she would not have bothered..

This morning, it was returned by the postman through the letterbox, with a sticker on the front saying £5 was owed for non-payment of postage. No money was asked for (or would it have been given even if it had!)
It got shredded..
