Had a little scare yesterday.Just leaving the in laws .When chest and stomach pain started.
Well the pain got worse for nearly an hour. Then went just went.Twenty mins later came back even worse.Quick turn aroundand down to nearest Hospital.
Well i was given the best possible treatment.A little concern about the ticker. But that was later cleared as ok . But for the next four hours they could not get rid of the cramp and rising sickness.Till they pumped me full of drugs. At 9pm.I was allowed to go home and feast on Gaviscon.
They think i had a massive reflux indegestion reaction.
So got to take it easy and rest this week.

What next i ask myself ?

Glad you feel better now. I had a similar sort of thing a few years back. Terrible stomach cramps and chest pains. It turned out to be, after a trip to the local hospital, to be an inflamed stomach after a weekend of partying. Felt terrible at the time but it passed after about ten hours and some fluids in hospital.

Get well soon, Postman.

Did they check you out for pancreatitis when you were there? Keep that in mind if it doesn't go away and the pain gets worse - it took them months to diagnose my ex when she had it, and she started with symptoms like yours. She was diagnosed with severe indigestion and given industrial-strength antacid tabs at first.

Must be a man-thing! No offence to the guys, but Mr BP had a similar experience and convinced himself that the was having a heart-attack and drove himself to the hospital at about 2 in the morning (not Airedale, although that is our "local" A&E). By the way the self-drive was not recommended by NHS direct.

He too was tested for allsorts, including ECG's because of family history of heart attacks. They sent him home the next day telling him it was some kind of reflux acid. He was quite amused at one point by a nurse stressing over his heart-rate which was about 53bpm. This is norm for him, being super-fit, she thought it was another symptom!

As goo said, pancreatitis is a possibility and if you have abdominal pains they usually give you a scan (same sort of scan they use for expectant ladies) to see if the pancreas is inflamed or not. You can't be too careful with this; 1 in 5 people who suffer from pacreatitis eventually die from it. You'll know if you have it eventually, of course, because it doesn't go away.

Get well soon .

I've had a few occasions where family have been looked after at Airedale and have only good things ot say about the staff there. My gran spent time at Airedale a couple of years ago when she was terminally ill and the staff were very good. Someone messed up pre-op drugs for my other gran meaning she had to wait a couple of days for her operation but they did a good job on the day and she's in pretty good for a woman in her eighties. They were also very good when she had a twisted intestine and sorted her out very quickly.

Get well soon...just another bit to fall off next time.....

I'd say most cyclist's give funny ECG readings. I had a full BUPA checkup a couple of years ago (work paid for it) - the consultant checked the three ECG readings..."Hmmm, If I didn't know better, I'd say you were about to have a heart attack....".....Fortunately, she mentioned that her husband is 'sporty' and has similar readings from his ECG.....
