I've used a memory foam topper for about 6 months previously and like others i found it very hot and also it dipped so you felt like you needed to climb out of a hole!! It served a purpose for me by covering old bed till I could buy a new one! I was lucky as the topper was given to me i wouldn't go out and buy one.

We have a pocket sprung mattress with memory foam on the top (all part of the mattress). It was a bloody fortune, over a grand, and its about a foot thick and weighs the same as a small elephant.

Pocket sprung mattresses cost a lot as they are hand made. Something like 2000 springs in ours.

It is however the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on.

Go try a few out.

we have had ours for 12 months now and it is a truly great mattress to sleep on . didn't spend a grand tho ;) we lay on one in the shop and it was so comfy.

We've got a sprung mattress with memory foam top layer. I love it, Mrs Doseone is not so fussed. I guess that a mattress is such a personal thing and you are taking a real chance spending a big lump of money on something that you don't really get to test properly first.

The only advice I can give you is steer clear of Dreams.

We have a Tempur mattress and I would say its the best mattress we have ever had but not perfect

We went to Harrods to try out all the beds as they have pretty much the whole range in stock then bought it locally but it was still over £2k

They take a bit if getting used too and are very very warm at night, we have the pillows too which are very good

My wife used to sell beds and we have had a few different mattresses in the past 15 years and will be sticking with this one as I'm not sure our perfect mattress exists
