Potential touring bike! what do you think

Just backing up the things said about Dawes bikes above - take it out the shop, point its nose in the right direction, and it'll still be going in 12 years time! My experience anyway - a bottom of the range Dawes hybrid, utterly and completely reliable and comfortable.

Aye - and +1 on getting the right size. It IS important.

I am 6' and have a Dawes Discovery, my pal also has a Disco and is 5'8", his bike is two sizes below mine, 23"-18". Looks small to me. Dawes components are good and they are sturdy bikes but not overly sought after second hand, not too fashionable, I think £250 is ok but....................you could buy a mint, hardly used and highly specced Discovery in the right size for the same price. I've toured 1000's of loaded miles on Disco's without a single issue.

I personally would prefer a drop bar. and I think this will be far too small as well :/ I think I will go and check the bike out, see how it rides... and I've moved to london from aylesbury, near?
