Today is the first day of potty training, so things are a little manic here, while trying to stay calm so as not to raise the stress levels and make using an actual toilet seem as normal and acceptable as possible. I guess some nay-sayers might make accusations of bad parenting, but I think my mum was right to wait 37 years. There's never a right time is there.

The right time is when they start showing interest. Do it at their timetable, not yours.

Also, we bough a huge cheap rug from Ikea for the living room as it was cheaper than cleaning pee/poo out of the carpet every day!!

Finally, have LOTS of spare clothes at hand!

Good luck.

Why didn't you just wrap them in cling film and unwrap them and sluice them down every now and then?

It would have saved a fortune in washing powder.

You'll save a fortune on nappies once dry.... Think of that, unless you opt for another nipper.

We put the thought in my daughters head a few weeks before, telling her how grown up it is to use a toilet and nappies are for babies. Then we asked her one day if she wanted to be like a big girl and grow and use the toilet? She was really good and only had a handful of accidents
As already said, it's all down to timing, we caught our daughter just at the right time that she wanted to do it. But everybody is different.
Good luck!

Dont stress, everyone gets there in the end. It just takes time, a bit like riding a bike.
My son was great, fully dry at night by 2 and half, my daughter was still in pull ups at night aged 4, and we have freinds whose daughter is still in pull ups every night aged 7.
Makes sure you plan ahead and know where the nearest toilet is at all times.
They will cry wolf a few times, dont let that put you off.

Or go to the loo every 5 minutes every time you go anywhere !
As others have said it varies from child to child although apparently girls are easier to train than boys , my 2 and a half year old has been potty trained since the new year and just need s a nappy at night as shes not ready to hold it in when asleep .My nearly 7 year old lad however regularly wets the bed even with a pull up but he does have poly-cystic renal failure so he cant help it.
