It would have been helpful in some questions to also show a picture i.e. turning left and road position. Various factors could affect this. If it's a narrow country road then moving to the left of the lane would be the same as staying in the middle, you don't have a choice. Likewise, if there was a cycle lane, I would not move over to the left because as I understand it you should not be driving in a cycle lane during normal driving, unless it's to cross path to turn off.

Also noted that some questions are so daft, they seem like a waste. I paraphrase, but it was something like "do you A) wait. B) Blast your horn and shout, or C) drink some alcohol to calm down, or D) brush your teeth whilst driving and start a Mr Bean appreciation society.

43/50 with a pass
The left turn seemed to catch a lot of people, me too.
Puffin crossing lights, i dont actually know the distinction between a puffin or pelican or any other...but i know to stop if its red and or someone's on it ?
6 points before 2 years licence held...well on the grounds I passed in 1976....
Seat belts for 12 yo and +-1.35 mtr...wasn't sure on that and a couple others.
As said, some of the potential answers are so daft I wonder if even the question IS in the HC.

49.
The one I answered 'wrongly' was the turning left into a minor road one, and I'd dispute that for the reasons mentioned above. Essentially, the optimal position depends on the specifics of the two roads / visibility / sight lines, etc., but, additionally, the only rationale they give is that of communicating to other road users, which (in a car), I'd be doing with indicators, and I would generally not wish to encourage an overtake approaching a junction, which moving left very much does.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Oh and the one about what happens if I get X points within Y months of passing my test. Not a clue.

And not really relevant seeing that I've had a licence for 40-odd years and don't have any points on it.

47/50 in 12 minutes, as I'm going out for lunch. 43 years since my test (and no points on licence - but have had to do a speed awareness course once).

Lack of observation skills. Fail…

Yes - when I did the IAM Advanced test they told me tha the examiners deliberately include turns into side roads that are very difficult to make if you start too far to the left to test your hazard prediction

The one on mine was in Heswall and was a turn onto a very steep hill and the road went back on itself immediately
Start in the gutter and you would need to reverse back onto the main road

So - a bad question - like quite a few of them

45/50 pass

Wrong answers;
Which colour follows green at a puffin crossing?
Turning left from a main road.
Parking at night.
What happens if you get 6 points within two years of passing your test?
Why did the lorry drive start turning so late?

I think some of the theory test questions are a bit ambiguous. This one "You're following 2 cyclists as they approach a roundabout in the left-hand lane. Where would you expect the cyclists to go?" for example. I would expect the cyclists to turn left BUT I would be prepared for them to go in any direction.

Now, if it was a [insert your most unfavourite make of car here] car I was following then I'd expect it to do the most illogical thing possible ^_^ :okay:

Well with taht question, it wasn't "where could the cyclists go", but "where would you EXPECT them to go".

But IIRC one of the choices was "anywhere".
